So, I just got back to Dalian two days ago after the usual, yet surprisingly not so bad, 30 hour trip from my hometown Cleveland, Ohio.
My first flight was an hour from Cleveland to Toronto. The third was also an hour from Beijing to Dalian. Those two were very forgettable. It was the middle flight though that made me very happy. I flew with Air Canada from Toronto to Beijing which took a grueling 14 hours. HOWEVER, it wasn't a full plane so I had three seats all to myself! I actually laid down for a bit and napped comfortably for a change.
Of course for about 7-8 hours of the flight I was busy watching movies (quick synopsis - 50/50 - funny and very moving, Immortals - good but not as good as 300, The Big Year - didn't reach it's potential) and trying to finish The Hunger Games, a very addictive and unique young adult book written by Suzanne Collins. I'm now on book two of the trilogy, Catching Fire. Check it out if you haven't heard of it, it's a very entertaining page-turner. I feel like everyone except me probably knows about it though, especially since the movie is coming out soon! I must say though, the book was surely written with a movie in mind and it should be very entertaining.
Okay I am having trouble leaving the house with all this technology. My girlfriend Luna just managed to get our wifi up and running, which means that I can play Scrabble on my new Kindle Fire and surf the web with any and all of my tech objects. And I wanted to start writing a novel...it's so hard to be productive and so easy to waste time! AHH! If only I had an idea as good as The Hunger Games...think dammit think...until next post...
PS. Tonight I find out whether my brother and his wife's first child will be a boy or girl...exciting news...here's the 'only in China' kicker I'm going to relate this bit of information to: Just told Luna that I will skype them later, and she tells me the following: "In China, we can't know if it's a boy or girl. They don't tell anybody." I thought and then realized, yeah, because if it's a girl, many people will get an abortion, many families don't want girls. So sad. Then she says, "My sister never knew until the baby was pretty much born. Then it was a girl and my sister's husband's mother was.." Luna gives displeased eyes to show the words. Wow. That's China for you.
Anyways, I think Nate will be getting a boy. However, I am terrible at betting and guessing and supposedly the Chinese zodiac stuff says it will be a girl. Either way, I know they will be happy...soon to know...
