Last Sunday I went to Labor Park with my new friend Dan. I met him at our football match last Tuesday. I had known him through Flickr and then I had seen his blog (you can see it here) but I had never met him in person. It was quite coincidental to bump into him then because we were both at the game to take photos. I was just taking them for fun but he was shooting and preparing to write an article about the team for the Focus on Dalian magazine, which is for foreigners in Dalian and about events and happenings here. Since then, I inquired about possibly contributing to the magazine. Maybe.
Anyways, friendship sparked as we share many a thing in common so I then invited him to take photos with me at Labor Park on Sunday. Apparently, there was to be a small music festival and thus an opportunity to take photos. So we met and the photos below are what I consider to be my best shots from the day. Later I would return to the park for a second time with Phil and his Mom, who is visiting China for a couple weeks.
MUSIC
Last week I also dappled a bit in music. I busted out my electric guitar, my zoom g2 effects thing, my amp (rarely used) and garage band on my apple computer and set to work. I wanted to create something new (it has been a long time) and so I did just that. I spend a night and then afternoon recording a song called "Such is Life". I started with a drum beat and a randomly inspired guitar progression and then added a bass line, wrote some lyrics and finally sang it. Not anything amazing but a bit more upbeat than my usual fair. I like to think my recent work is influenced by the band "Real Estate". Check them out if you haven't heard of them.
I'll title this new collection of songs "Spring Songs" and try to add one a week. Hope you enjoy, mind everything is pretty much recorded in one or two takes as I am always to eager to add and then create something anew. Download below.
Until next post, jolly good to y'all.
